Punjab IAS officer Parampal Kaur Sidhu, who recently tendered her resignation to join the BJP, has been warned by Bhagwant Mann that she will lose her lifetime earnings if she does not understand the proper way to resign. Kaur is the daughter-in-law of Akali Dal leader and former Punjab Minister Sikander Singh Maluka. Kaur joined the BJP today in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and the party's General Secretary. Punjab CM, however, said her resignation hasn’t yet been accepted by the government.
“Parmapal Kaur's resignation as an IAS officer was not accepted by the Punjab government. Biba Ji had aspired to become an IAS officer. Is there any other way to leave? Please understand the process of resignation. Otherwise, the earnings of the whole life can be at risk,” Mann posted on X.
Kaur, while joining the BJP, said she reviewed the saffron party’s policies and their efforts for women's welfare before taking the decision. She said other political parties have no future in Punjab or the country. Kaur’s husband also joined the BJP along with her.
She submitted her request for voluntary retirement from service a week ago, but the Chief Minister, responsible for the personnel department, has not yet approved her application.

Who Is Parampal Kaur Sidhu:
Kaur, holding postgraduate degrees in philosophy and zoology, made history in the early 1990s by becoming Punjab's first female Block Development Panchayat Officer (BDPO). While controversies marked her tenure, her decision to join the BJP has prompted speculation about its potential effect on the Akali Dal's voter base.
BJP is likely to field her from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, which is currently represented by Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Harsimrat is the wife of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
