Parliament Monsoon Session: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, while speaking in the lower house on Wednesday, slammed the centre over the alleged NEET paper leak. A heavy ruckus erupted in the house after Gandhi claimed that the order of use of force against the protesting students came directly from the home ministry. The senior Congress leader also alleged that the education sector is being privatised and is being operated as per the RSS, ideological mentor of the BJP.
During Rahul Gandhi's speech, several BJP MPs, including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, objected and advised him to speak as per the parliamentary guidelines. While recalling a discussion with a female student, Gandhi stated that she told him that there are three kinds of people – students, idiots, and Andhbhakts.
'Three Kinds Of People'
He stated that while the students are humble and are open to learning new things, the idiots are arrogant and don't listen to others' opinions. "They don't listen, they don't respect other people's truth. She said I call them idiots," the leader of opposition (LoP) said, leading to the ruckus. While defining the third category, Gandhi said an "Andhbhakt" is someone who "is absolutely convinced that the idiot is a God," Gandhi said.
However, upon receiving complaints from the NDA MPs, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla later expunged his remarks from the record.
Rahul Questions RSS' Role
He further claimed that while Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned as the education minister, the whole ministry is actually being run by the RSS. "The organisation that runs the Education Ministry is called the RSS. The man who runs it is an OSD sitting in the Minister's office," the LoP said. "Dharmendra Pradhan is a symbol, the real enemy is the RSS...They are the people who want you to be 'Andhbhakts'," he added.
Ruckus Over Amit Shah's Mention
The biggest controversy erupted after Gandhi, while recalling the use of force against the students, alleged that the order directly came from Home Minister Amit Shah. His remarks led to huge controversy as Rijiju asked the Congress leader either to apologise or authenticate his statement by submitting proof. However, the proceedings were adjourned till 2.30 pm after Gandhi refused to apologise.
