Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that political stability and predictability have restored investor confidence in India, enabling the country to approach trade negotiations from a position of strength.

In an exclusive interview with the news agency PTI, the Prime Minister highlighted that New Delhi’s expanding manufacturing sector, growing services industry, and robust MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) have positioned the nation to secure free trade agreements (FTAs) with at least 38 countries.

“Political stability and political predictability have restored investor confidence in India,” he remarked, adding that the government’s consistent policy approach has bolstered India’s standing in global trade negotiations.

PM Modi further emphasised that the country’s FTAs are designed to enhance market access for MSMEs, especially in sectors such as textiles, leather, chemicals, handicrafts, and gems and jewellery. These agreements, he explained, aim to create new opportunities for Indian exporters and strengthen India’s integration into global supply chains.

He also spoke about how India’s goods exports have consistently broken previous records in recent years. He mentioned that while incentives and tariff preferences can stimulate growth, long-term competitiveness must be built on innovation, efficiency, and scale.
