PM Modi Russia Visit: After Successful Moscow Trip, Prime Minister Modi Departs For Austria

Prime Minister Modi extended heartfelt gratitude to President Putin after he was honoured with Russia's highest civilian award "Order of St Andrew the Apostle". The PM said that this is not just an honour to me but to 140 crore Indians.

"This honour is not just mine, this is the honour of 140 crore Indians. This is the honour of the centuries-old deep friendship and mutual trust between India and Russia. This is the honour of our special and privileged strategic partnership," PM Modi said after receiving the award.

"In the past 2.5 decades, under your leadership, India-Russia relations have strengthened in all directions and have scaled new heights each time. The foundation of strategic ties between the two nations that you had laid has only further strengthened with the passing of time. Our mutual cooperation, based on people-to-partnership, is becoming the hope and guarantee of a better future of our people," he added.

Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, on Tuesday hailed the relationship between the two countries.

"We have welcomed the Prime Minister in Russia. This visit is significant in terms of discussing global matters and regional matters, most of all in terms of reviewing bilateral relationships which are very extended. We have a lot of prospective projects in the pipeline which have been discussed and are being implemented already, be it in oil & gas, defence, or culture. In every sphere, we have a great scope of bilateral engagements... We expect the PM to come in for the BRICS summit also. We are looking forward to continuing the annual exchange of summits, the practice that has been going on for the last 20 years...We are looking forward to a high-level delegation visit from Russia to India," he said on PM Modi's Russia visit.

Emphasising the importance of his Russia visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the focus of the whole world is on the meeting of the two leaders. PM Modi further expressed satisfaction over his discussion on the sensitive Ukraine issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the murder of innocent children 'heart-wrenching' in a possible hint at Russia's missile attack on Kyiv hospital.

"Be it war, conflicts, terror attacks - everyone who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives. But when innocent children are murdered, when we see innocent children dying, it is heart-wrenching. That pain is immense. I also held a detailed discussion with you over this."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, Russia. PM Modi is on his two-day official visit to Russia for the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the Indian community, Swami Atmalokananda from Ram Krishna Mission said, "We have been here since 1991. The Russian people are interested in the Sanskrit language...Without PM Modi we cannot think of the future of India. He is fulfilling the wishes of Swami Vivekananda."

"I want to share some good news with you all. We have decided to open new consulates in Kazan and Yekaterinburg. This will enhance travel and business trades," PM Modi said.

"The song was once sung in every household here, 'Sir pe lal topi Russi, phir bhi dil hai Hindustani.' This song may have become old, but the sentiments are ever-green. Artists like Raj Kapoor, Mithoon Da have strengthened the friendship between India and Russia...The strength of our relations has been tested many times and every time our friendship has emerged stronger. I would especially like to appreciate the leadership of my dear friend, President Putin. He has done a wonderful job to strengthen this partnership for more than 2 decades. This is the sixth time I have come to Russia in the last 10 years and in these years we have met each other 17 times. All these meetings have increased trust and respect. When our students were stuck in the conflict, President Putin helped us in getting them back to India. I once again thank the people of Russia and my friend, President Putin," PM Modi said.

"The world is surprised to see the pace of development that the country has achieved in the last 10 years. When people from the world come to India, they say 'Bharat badal raha hai'. They are clearly able to see the transformation of India, the reconstruction of India. When India organises successful events like G20, the world speaks in one voice, 'Bharat badal raha hai'. When India doubles the number of its airports in just 10 years, the world says, 'Bharat badal raha hai'. When India electrifies more than 40,000 kilometres of railway lines in just 10 years, the world also realises the power of India, they say the country is changing," PM Modi said.

"Today's India makes sure it achieves the target it sets. Today, India is the country that takes Chandrayaan to the part of the moon where no other country in the world could reach. Today, India is the country that is giving the most reliable model of digital transactions to the world. Today, India is a country that has the third largest startup ecosystem in the world. When you people gave me the opportunity to serve the country for the first time in 2014, there were hundreds of startups, today there are lakhs of startups. Today, India is a country that is filing patents and publishing research papers in record numbers," PM Modi said.

"In the third phase, the government's target is to create 3 crore houses for the poor, to create 3 crore 'Lakhpati Didi'. We want to empower the women self-help groups running in villages in India, we want in my third phase, 3 crore women from among the poor women of villages become 'Lakhpati Didi', that is, their annual income should be more than Rs 1 lakh," PM Modi said.

"This is my first conversation with the Indian diaspora after forming the govt for the third time. Today, on 9th July and it has been a full month since I took oath as the PM of India for the third time and I took a vow that I will work with 3 times more strength, at 3 times more speed and it is also a coincidence that the number 3 is also present in many of the government's goals. The government's goal is to make India the third largest economy in the world in the third term," PM Modi said.

US Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller on Monday said that the United States of America would encourage India to impress upon Russia that any resolution to the Ukraine conflict adheres to the UN Charter.

In a significant development, Russia has agreed to discharge and facilitate the return of all Indian nationals serving in the Russian Army after Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, news agency ANI reported citing sources.

Prime Minister Modi arrived at the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in the private dinner hosted by the latter. On his arrival, PM Modi was welcomed by Putin at the doorstep and both leaders shared a warm hug to greet each other.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a private dinner hosted by President Putin in the evening, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday. Calling it a 'special gesture' by Russia, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that PM has a packed schedule tomorrow.
