PM Modi Russia Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian diaspora in Russia's Moscow on the second day of his visit. All the arrangements have been made in this regard and PM Modi is likely to visit the venue shortly. Besides, in a big diplomatic victory, Russia has agreed to discharge and facilitate the return of all Indians working in the Russian Army after Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the matter with President Putin, ANI reported citing sources.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on the first leg of his two-nation official visit to Russia and Austria. During his visit to the Russian capital Moscow, PM Modi and Russia's President Vladimir Putin will hold the 22nd India-Russia annual summit. Besides a delegation-level meeting as part of the bilateral summit, the duo will also hold 'restricted-level' talks, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
One of the issues that PM Modi is likely to take up with Putin is about the early discharge of Indian nationals who were lured into fighting alongside Russian soldiers as part of the ongoing war in Ukraine, as per a Reuters report citing Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra. This is PM Modi's first Russia visit since the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in 2022.
He last visited Russia in 2019 to attend an economic conclave in Vladivostok. According to the MEA, the 22nd India-Russia annual summit will involve PM Modi and President Putin reviewing the entire gamut of multifaceted ties between New Delhi and Moscow.
