After the Rs 370 Biriyani controversy, a woman present at the Pranit More Show has been facing criticism regarding objectionable comments about male cadavers. King Edward Memorial Hospital has formed a committee to inquire about the incident and take appropriate steps regarding the same. The woman, identified as Sejal Pawar, is a third-year MBBS student in the KEM college. The internet has trolled the comedian as well as the woman over their conversation on human anatomy and how the two mocked male cadavers publicly in the comedy show.

The committee said that Pawar’s comments were “objectionable and insensitive” and fell short of the standards of dignity, empathy, and professional responsibility expected from a medical student. The committee claimed that Pawar may face temporary suspension and disciplinary action. as per the findings of the team. This comes a day after Maharashtra Cyber Police filed an FIR against stand-up comedian Pranit More and two audience members, including MBBS student Sejal Pawar, over remarks made during the comedy show.

What Is The Controversy About?

The row erupted when Comedian and Youtuber Pranit More hosted a show. While interacting with the audience, he spoke to MBBS student Sejal Pawar, who allegedly joked about the use of donated body parts during anatomy classes.

When More asked Pawar about whether they remain serious or crack jokes while conducting autopsies. To this, Pawar claimed that they often make fun of anatomy-related experiences with cadavers. The matter escalated when she mentioned that she and her colleagues would compare the sizes of male cadavers' private parts.

The video clip quickly circulated on social media, and critics described it as insensitive, inhuman, and disrespectful towards body donors.

As the criticisms kept increasing, Pawar issued an apology on Instagram. "I'm not here to justify what was said or explain it away. I take responsibility for it," she wrote.

Why Did The Controversy Escalate Beyond A Viral Clip?

Netizens criticised the woman and comedian not just for the joke but also asked questions on what the moral bar is for deciding the rights and wrongs. People also drew comparisons with the extreme consequences that Himanshu Jhangra faced for his comments on the show.

As per the viral video clip, Jangra quipped that after he paid the bill of Rs 370 for a biryani date, he expected the woman to invite him home in order to repay him for the monetary expense by allowing access to intimacy. More laughed and said, “Peak Gurgaon behavior" in the clip. After the widespread backlash that it’s triggered across, More has apologised for the same and also deactivated his Instagram account. Following this, Jhangra was terminated from his job.

While some argue that the two situations are entirely different and should be treated and assessed on their own merits, others said that Pawar too should face consequences.
