Punjab Weather: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a dense fog alert for the next 72 hours in Punjab. As per the weather body, 14 districts will be affected by fog on Wednesday and Thursday. A fog alert has been issued for the entire Punjab on Friday.
Fog on Wednesday morning directly affected air and rail traffic. Visibility in Amritsar was nearly zero at 6 am, jagran.com reported. However, due to the availability of a CAT-3 landing system at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport, most flights did not face any significant difficulties.
However, two flights were cancelled including - flights from Amritsar to Srinagar and from Srinagar to Amritsar. According to the airport administration, this decision was taken keeping passenger safety in mind.
Trains Affected Amid Fig
Following fog alerts in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi in northern India, many trains are running late, while some have been rescheduled. The railway department has advised passengers to check train status information on the railway information system or the 139 helpline before moving out.
IMD has also urged drivers to exercise caution. Visibility is likely to be low, especially during the early morning and late night hours, which could increase the risk of road accidents. According to the department, temperatures will remain relatively unchanged in the coming days, but fog and mist may persist.

Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi (12029): Train is running late by about 1 hour.
Sachkhand Express (12716, Amritsar-Nanded ): Running late by more than 1 hour.
Golden Temple Mail (12904, Amritsar- Mumbai ): This train is also showing delay of 10 to 20 minutes at many stations.
Shaan -e - Punjab Express (): This train is also showing a delay of about 1 hour.
