Rail passengers in the Agra Railway Division will soon be able to skip long ticket counter queues, with the Railways planning to install 45 additional Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (AVTMs) across 25 railway stations. The move is aimed at making ticketing faster, more convenient, and fully digital.

Passengers will be able to use the machines to buy general and platform tickets, as well as renew monthly season tickets, reducing the time spent waiting at ticket counters and lowering the chances of missing trains.

The Agra Railway Division has a network of 100 railway stations. So far, 36 AVTMs have been installed at nine stations, including Agra Cantt and Agra Fort. According to railway officials, passengers have responded positively to the machines. To raise awareness about the new facilities, the railways are also displaying posters and banners at various locations.

Following the successful rollout, the Railway Board has approved the next phase of the project. Another 25 stations, including Idgah Railway Station, have been identified for the installation of AVTMs. Together, these stations handle between 15,000 and 19,000 passengers daily.

Passengers can pay using multiple modes, including cash, smart cards, UPI, and other digital payment options, allowing passengers to complete transactions quickly without standing in long queues. The system functions much like the ticket vending machines used at metro stations.

Chief Public Relations Officer Shashikant said preparations are underway to install the new AVTMs at the identified stations.
