A three-year-old girl suffocated to death in a locked car while her parents were attending a wedding ceremony in Rajasthan’s Kota, police said on Thursday. According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening and the girl was identified as Gorvika Nagar.
The girl’s father, identified as Pradeep Nagar, had gone to attend a wedding function with his wife and two daughters. As the family reached the wedding venue, the mother and the elder daughter came out of the car. The girl’s father then went to park the vehicle, according to SHO Banna Lal of Khatoli police station.
Assuming that both daughters entered the wedding venue with their mother, the father locked the car and left to attend the occasion. According to the officer, both parents spent almost two hours visiting with various groups of people.
According to the police, when the father and the mother of the girl reunited, they asked about their younger daughter Gorvika. The police said that the couple began looking for her after finding that their daughter was not with any of them. A few hours after entering the wedding site, they returned to the car, looking for Gorvika.
SHO Banna Lal said that the couple found the girl ‘unconscious’ in the car's back seat and hurried her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The parents have refused to conduct an autopsy and have decided not to file a police report, he said.
