In a chilling act of violence, a YouTuber was brutally attacked for questioning religious extremism and malpractices in Ghaziabad. Salim Ahmad or Salim Vastavik had returned to his office after offering prayer from the mosque when assailants attacked him with a knife. The victim was admitted to Delhi’s GTB hospital with severe injuries, where his condition remains critical.

The survivor's son has filed a police complaint against five people, expressing suspicion over their involvement, prompting police to launch a search operation.

Helmet-Clad Attackers Attacked YouTuber Multiple Times

Salim Ahmad, a resident of Ali Garden who runs a YouTube channel under the name ‘Salim Vastavik 0007,’ was sitting in the office he had set up inside his home after returning from prayers when two helmet-clad assailants stormed in and attacked him with sharp weapons. The attackers stabbed him repeatedly in the neck, abdomen, and below the ear, causing serious injuries.

Observing the commotion, neighbours informed Salim’s family and the police about the incident. The victim was transferred to the nearby hospital for initial treatment after police reached the incident site. Salim was referred to the GTB hospital due to critical conditions, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Salim’s son filed a police complaint against five people as suspected attackers and accused the involvement of seven people in the assault. Suspecting the content on his father’s YouTube channel as the driving force behind the attack, Usman accused the named individuals of harbouring a grudge against his father.

ACP Loni Siddharth Gautam confirmed that an FIR has been registered against unknown bike-borne assailants based on the complaint. He said the police are actively investigating the role of the five named individuals, and a search is underway to identify and arrest the attackers at the earliest.

Salim used to question superstitions and fanaticism among the Muslim community, which allegedly had turned many against him.
