Pratapgarh House Collapse: In a tragic incident, six members of the same family died after being buried under debris when the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed amid continuous rainfall. The incident took place early Thursday morning in the Mahauli ward of the Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh. A young man also sustained serious injuries.
The incident occurred around 3:00 am. According to a report by the news agency IANS, citing Pratapgarh police, the nearly 100-year-old house collapsed amid heavy rainfall. All seven family members were asleep in the same room when the structure gave way, burying them under the debris. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, recovered the victims, and admitted the injured survivor to the hospital.
CM Yogi Takes Cognisance Of The Incident
The deceased include the homeowner, 60-year-old Pramod Srivastava; his wife, 55-year-old Rita Srivastava; their son, 25-year-old Nitin; their younger daughter-in-law, 23-year-old Madhuri; and Madhuri’s two young sons, two-year-old Madhav and four-month-old Advik. According to ANI report, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the incident and directed senior officials to reach the site and expedite relief operations.

The tragic news comes as widespread heavy rain continues to lash Uttar Pradesh, triggering severe waterlogging, submerging roads, stalling traffic, and disrupting normal life in major cities, including Lucknow, Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Noida, and Greater Noida. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts across multiple districts as monsoon grows stronger in the northern states.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall across isolated places in West Uttar Pradesh and heavy rain in East Uttar Pradesh with thunderstorms have been predicted for Thursday, August 6.
