New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday asserted that the coronavirus crisis in the national capital is under control, saying 9,900 corona beds are in the city-state. Kejriwal further said that the number of patients at hospital in Delhi has come down to 5,300 from 6,200.

In a tweet on Sunday morning, the Delhi Chief Minister also said that less people need hospitalisation in Delhi as "more and more coronavirus patients are getting cured at home".

"Less and less people in Delhi are now requiring hospitalisation, more and more people are getting cured at home. Whereas there were around 2,300 new patients daily last week, no of patients in hospital has gone down from 6,200 to 5,300. Today, 9,900 corona beds are free," Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet.

Delhi has emerged as one of the hotspots of coronavirus in India. The highly contagious infection has affected more than 94,000 and claimed nearly 3,000 lives in the national capital so far, according to the data available at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. While the recovery rate in Delhi stands at 69.30 per cent as over 65,000 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Amid the alarming spike in coronavirus cases, the Delhi government has asked district magistrates to start COVID-19 survey outside containment zones, focusing on vulnerable sections in areas with sporadic cases, news agency PTI quoted sources as saying.

"Now, the survey will be expanded in its scope beyond containment zones, focusing in areas where isolated cases have been reported. Vulnerable people who live in such areas will be priority as they are likely to catch infections rather more frequently," the sources told PTI.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had earlier said that a door-to-door survey would be completed in coronavirus containment zones of Delhi by July 6, followed by a similar exercise across the national capital.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government had last week launched the mammoth exercise to screen the national capital's population for coronavirus and fixed the deadline to complete the task by July 6.

Hundreds of teams have been formed to carry out the survey. The teams are armed with a mobile application -- SS Corona -- which will send real-time details to a dedicated web portal set up by the government.
