Jagran Correspondent, Mainpuri: After days of scorching heat and high humidity, Sunday morning brought much-needed relief to Mainpuri residents as cloudy skies gave way to rainfall. The showers not only lowered temperatures but also provided respite from the humid weather conditions. For the past several days, the maximum temperature hovered around 38 degrees Celsius. It dropped to 31 degrees Celsius during the Sunday morning rain.
Meteorologist Narendra Verma said that the weather will be pleasant for the next one or two days along with rain. District Agriculture Officer Avishank Singh Chauhan said that this rain is also beneficial for paddy farmers. Farmers have been waiting for rain for the past several days.
Meanwhile, residents of Delhi-NCR have found no respite from the humid heat. On Friday, Delhi recorded the highest minimum temperature in the last five years at 31 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday, it dropped to 30.2 degrees Celsius. Now, the minimum temperature has again reached 31 degrees Celsius, which is 3.8 degrees above normal. Some changes in the weather are expected by afternoon.
Chances Of Rain With Strong Winds
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Sunday. By noon, winds of 20 to 40 kilometre per hour and light rain are expected. However, humid heat will persist. The maximum temperature could reach 36 degrees Celsius.
According to the latest update released by the IMD, a severe warning for heavy rain and strong thunderstorms has been issued in 15 states in the next few hours.The monsoon has become very active in north-west, east and north-east India, due to which states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar may receive light to very heavy rainfall. During this time, there is a possibility of wind blowing at a speed of 40 to 70 kmph and lightning.
