Uttarakhand Bus Accident: At least seven people were killed, and 11 others were injured after a bus bound for Ramnagar fell into a gorge in the Bhikiyasen area of Almora on Tuesday morning. The MINI-bus, belonging to Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN), was carrying 18 passengers toward Ramnagar when the vehicle lost control and fell into a gorge in the Bhikiyasen area.

According to a Jagran.com report, the vehicle lost control before plunging off the road. Teams from the police, district administration, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) immediately rushed to the spot following the accident. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital and are currently receiving medical care.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Devendra Pincha said, “Eighteen people were travelling in the KMVN mini bus when it lost control and fell into the gorge. The bodies have been retrieved, and the injured have been sent to the hospital.”

District administration has expressed deep regret over the incident and assured all possible assistance to the victims and their families.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary investigation suggests poor road conditions and a loss of vehicle control as the primary factors of the accident.

Uttarakhand Bus Accident: Bus And Route Details

The vehicle involved in the accident was a Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) mini bus with registration number UK 07 PA 4025, Jagran.com report added. The bus was reportedly owned by Mohammad Altaf of Ramnagar.

The bus reportedly departed from Nobara at 6:30 AM on Tuesday morning. At around 8 AM near Almora’s Bhikiyasen, the bus lost control and fell into a gorge, killing seven people and injuring 11 others.
