Weather Update: Severe cold wave conditions continue to grip North India, disrupting daily life from Kashmir to Delhi. Icy winds descending from the mountains have intensified the chill across the plains. In Kashmir, Chillai Kalan, the 40-day period marking the harshest winter, is currently at its peak. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for December 26 and 27 across North India, including the Delhi-NCR region, warning of cold wave conditions and low visibility during the morning and evening hours.
Kashmir Weather
According to the Srinagar Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature has dropped to minus 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Dal Lake and water mains have begun to freeze, causing difficulties for locals. Meanwhile, snowfall is being enjoyed by tourists in Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
Delhi Weather
Due to the increasing cold and fog in Delhi, health experts have advised children and the elderly to stay indoors in the morning and evening. Visibility was very low in Delhi on Friday morning. According to the Safdarjung Observatory, the minimum temperature was recorded between 7 degrees Celsius and 9 degrees Celsius. Due to the fog, several flights were diverted at Delhi airport and more than 20 trains were delayed.

Yellow Alert Issued In Himachal
A yellow alert for dense fog has been issued in Himachal's lower areas, including Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur. Morning and night temperatures in Manali and Shimla have dropped close to the freezing point . IMD has forecast light snowfall in higher elevations over the next 24 hours.
Fog has disrupted flights in cities like Delhi, Amritsar, Jammu, and Patna. Several airlines, including IndiGo and SpiceJet, have issued alerts. Trains are also running several hours late. Passengers are urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
