Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that after days of scorching heat, the northern states are set to witness fresh rainfall. As per the weather department, the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The eastern states, including West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam, are also set to experience light to heavy rainfall.

Rain Likely In These States

As per the weather department, there is a possibility of rain in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan, Goa, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Arunachal Pradesh. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and limit their outings.

The rain activities are likely to increase due to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north Odisha-West Bengal coast. The IMD further stated that rainfall activity is expected to increase over eastern and northeastern states for the next seven days. Apart from this, eastern Uttar Pradesh and the western Himalayan region are also likely to witness similar weather conditions.

Heavy Rain Alert For Odisha

As per the meteorological department, extremely heavy rainfall is possible in several regions of Odisha today. The change in weather will also increase rainfall in Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi are also expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain in the coming days.

The continuous heavy rain in the Western Himalayan region may lead to a surge in water levels in rivers, which could further lead to landslides in the hilly regions. The meteorological department has instructed the administration of all the affected states to remain alert and take necessary steps to minimize the damage.
