Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are set to witness light to heavy rainfall at least till April 9. The weather department, while providing details, asserted that the northern states are also expected to receive strong surface winds and lightning. The rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing relief from the heat. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines to avoid any inconveniences.
The weather department stated that several states across the country, including Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, and Sikkim, are set to witness moderate to heavy rain. Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha are also expected to receive rain till April 9.

A western disturbance will lead to rainfall in these states, leading to waterlogging in the lower regions and leading to issues for the residents. The farmers of the northern states are advised to protect their crops, as the heavy rain and strong winds is likely to damage the crops. They have also been advised to avoid hiding beneath any big tree or electricity pole during the rainfall.
Weather Update Till April 9:
- Parts of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand are set to witness rain on April 7
- Rain is likely in UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Odisha on April 7, 8, and 9.
- Moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and East Rajasthan till April 9
- The southern states are also likely to witness rainfall till April 10, the weather department informed
- The temperature across the country is likely to increase significantly after April 12, leading to inconveniences
