West Bengal Assembly Election Result 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged large-scale electoral malpractice, claiming the BJP "looted votes" in over 100 constituencies. Her remarks came party faced a significant electoral setback in the Assembly polls.

Speaking to news agency ANI, she said, "More than 100 seats the BJP looted. The Election Commission is the BJP's commission. I complained to the CO and also Manoj Agrawal, but they are not doing anything. Do you think this is a victory? It is an immoral victory, not a moral victory. Whatever the Election Commission has done, along with the Central Forces and the PM & Home Minister, is totally illegal. It is loot, loot, loot. We will bounce back."

Despite the setback, the TMC chairperson remained defiant, stating, "We will bounce back."

'I Was Hit': Mamata Banerjee

Speaking in Kolkata, Banerjee alleged that she was physically attacked during the counting process.

"From 3 pm onwards, they have been beating us. I was hit. CCTV was switched off," she was quoted as saying.

She also raised concerns about the conduct of the process, asserting that the TMC's representatives were denied access to the counting centres

"None of our agents was allowed inside (the counting centre). The DO assured me our agents would be allowed, but after that, he was not available anywhere. I complained everywhere," she added.

Why TMC Failed To Perform In West Bengal?

CM Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, which has ruled the state for the last 15 years and achieved significant electoral success in the past, witnessed major setbacks. Arguments suggest that the reason behind the party's poor performance in the 2026 assembly elections is its struggle in certain areas of governance and legislative effectiveness. These concerns seem to have shaped public opinion, giving the BJP a comfortable gain.
