Punjab’s 10-year-old hero, Shravan Singh, has received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 in the bravery category for demonstrating exemplary courage during Operation Sindoor. Shravan’s heroics have been praised far and wide by the Indian Army, as well as the President of India and the Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwat Mann, who hailed him as a source of pride for the entire nation.
Who Is Shravan Singh?
A resident of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, Mohali, Punjab, Shravan Singh belongs to a humble family of rural background.
Singh’s humble background has visual imprints of the values of service, discipline, and patriotism, which ultimately guided his actions during Operation Sindoor.
During Operation Sindoor, Shravan voluntarily chose to give humanitarian support to the brave Indian soldiers who were stationed near his village.
Despite being just ten-years old, Singh helped the troops by:
Supplying milk, lassi, buttermilk, tea, and ice to soldiers
Assisting troops during extreme heat and long duty hours
Offering emotional encouragement and moral support
Standing firm despite the risks associated with a sensitive border zone
Speaking at the award ceremony, President Murmu said that Singh’s actions were not driven by recognition but by a genuine urge to support the soldiers who sacrificed their everything in the line of duty.
Interestingly, Shravan is also the youngest civilian contributor on behalf of India to Operation Sindoor.
Shravan’s on-ground contributions have been recognised by the army personnel as well, who said that his contribution gave a major boost to the morale of the soldiers who were fighting on the front.
On the other hand, the Golden Division of the Indian Army announced it would extend support to Shravan’s education, further acknowledging his extraordinary contribution.
