Jharkhand CM Misses Republic Day Flag Hoisting In Dumka; BJP Raises Objection
The BJP has attacked Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for not hoisting the flag in Dumka on Republic Day.

Jharkhand's Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, did not hoist the flag in the state's sub-capital, Dumka, on this Republic Day due to a foreign tour. The BJP has attacked Hemant Soren over this, accusing him of insulting the constitution.

Speaking at a press conference at the state BJP office, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi said that instead of hoisting the national flag, the Chief Minister and government officials are shopping on the streets of London.

Marandi described this as an insult to the republic and the constitution, stating that these are the same people who wave the book of the constitution in the assembly, on the streets, and at public squares, yet forget the sanctity of a national festival.

Babulal Marandi alleged that the chief ministers of other states who went to the conference in Davos have returned, but Jharkhand's Chief Minister and senior officials are engaged in sightseeing in London with their wives. He said that the state government should release full details explaining why the Chief Minister has stayed behind.

The Chief Minister went to Davos to sign an MoU with Tata in the name of establishing industry. The same Tata company could have come to Ranchi to sign the MoU. The MoU with Naveen Jindal was also signed in Davos; this, too, could have happened in Ranchi. He said that the Tata project is also an ongoing project.
