In a major step toward strengthening educational infrastructure, the Jharkhand government will distribute appointment letters to around 7,000 newly selected assistant teachers on November 6. The appointment ceremony will be held in Seraikela, where Chief Minister Hemant Soren will hand over the letters to the successful candidates.
The School Education and Literacy Department has begun preparations for the event following the Chief Minister’s approval. Initially planned in Ranchi, the programme venue was later shifted to Seraikela. Appointment letters will be distributed to both graduate-trained and intermediate-trained assistant teachers, including 2,748 posts for graduate-trained teachers in social science.

The recruitment was conducted through the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to fill 26,001 assistant teacher posts. However, only 9,348 candidates were selected, leaving 16,653 posts vacant, most of which belong to the para-teacher category.
Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, 50 per cent of the positions were reserved for para-teachers. Some results are still pending. Among the remaining vacancies, 6,667 posts are for intermediate-trained assistant teachers and 9,986 for graduate-trained teachers.
The state government had earlier created 50,000 assistant teacher posts in total. The current recruitment drive covers the first phase of 26,001 posts, while the second phase will begin after the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) is conducted.
