Renowned actor and film critic Kamal R Khan, also called KRK, is in police custody after allegedly firing shots at a residential building.

Recently, four rounds were fired at a residential building in Oshiwara, after which the Mumbai Police took him into custody.

KRK was arrested on Friday after questioning, where he confessed to the use of his licensed gun in firing.

Why did Kamal R Khan fire the bullets?

In his statement to the police, KRK admitted that he was cleaning his licensed gun and fired the shots to check its functionality. During interrogation, he told police that he had no intention of harming anyone and was simply cleaning his gun.

KRK explained that he fired a shot into a large mangrove forest in front of his house to test the gun's functioning. He thought the bullet would be lost in the mangrove forest. However, due to the wind, the bullet travelled a little further and hit a building in Oshiwara.

At the time of the firing, the police were clueless. The building where the shots were fired also houses a flat belonging to a writer, a director, and a model. Reports suggest that two bullets were recovered from the building. Later, with the help of a forensic team, police determined that the shots may have been fired from Kamal R. Khan's bungalow. Following this, the police questioned him.

The police official said that the exact motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.

KRK has been booked in a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, the officials added.
