A 19-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Nagpur died by suicide after her father scolded her for eating junk food, police said today. According to them, Bhumika Vinod Dhanwani was a resident of Nagpur's Sindhi Colony area and was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration.

"Bhumika was a student of BBA and had a thyroid problem. Upset over her father scolding her for eating junk food, she hanged herself in the kitchen using a long cloth," an official of Pratap Nagar police station said.

He also said that upon finding her hanging in the kitchen, the family members rushed her to Government Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared dead.

"Her family members found her hanging this morning, following which she was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared dead," he said.

According to police, a case of accidental death has been lodged.

In a separate incident from Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, a 30-year-old man killed his wife with a sharp weapon after an argument over delayed lunch service. He then committed suicide by hanging himself in his house, according to Thangaon police station SHO Hanumant Lal Tiwari.

Police said that on Monday afternoon, after working in the fields, Parasram came home and asked his wife for food. The police said Parasram's lunch was not ready when he arrived home.
