Mumbai Best Bus Accident: At least 4 people were killed, and 9 were injured in a major road accident involving the city’s famous Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) bus. The accident has rocked Mumbai after the bus ran over people at midnight on Monday outside Bhandup (W) railway station.
The bus was reversing when it ran over people waiting around the bus stop there.
Mumbai Bus Accident: 4 Killed, 9 Injured
According to a report by the news agency ANI, 4 people have been crushed to death, while 9 others have sustained injuries in the accident. The Bus driver has been taken into custody. The accident took place in Mumbai's Bhandup around 10:05 pm on Monday. Ambulances, along with the Mumbai Fire Brigade, BEST staff, have been mobilised.

According to police officials at the site, the bus allegedly dashed into 10-12 people. The bus was said to be an electric bus of Olectra make. Senior police inspector of Bhandup police station, Balasaheb Pawar, said that police are at the spot and the injured have been rushed to the hospital. "At least two people have been crushed under the bus as I can see," said Pawar.
According to officials, quoted by Mid-Day, three persons were brought dead, and nine others who are injured were being treated at MT Agarwal hospital. At Rajawadi Hospital, two victims were reported. An unknown woman was declared brought dead, and Prashant Lad (51), male, is in critical condition and undergoing treatment, officials said.
Those dead include three women and a man, the report said.

Kurla BEST Bus Accident
In a similar accident last year on December 9, an electric BEST bus lost control and hit several pedestrians and about 22 vehicles. The bus dragged on for around 200 metres before stopping after crashing into a cement gate at the entrance of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagar on SG Barve Marg in Kurla. Nine people died and 42 others were injured in the incident.
