Ex-gangster Arun Gawali’s daughters, Geeta and Yogita, suffered defeats in the BMC elections. Geeta lost to Samajwadi Party candidate Amreen Shehzan Abrahani in Ward 212 (Byculla), while Yogita was defeated by BJP’s Rohidas Lokhande in Ward 207.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated the State BJP President Ravindra Chavan over the phone. 

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde thanked Mumbaikars for the BJP alliance's resounding victory in the BMC election. He said people voted on the issue of 'development' and rejected other issues.

According to the official results of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, BJP candidate Tejaswi Ghosalkar secured a landslide victory in Dahisar Ward No. 2. He defeated his closest competitor, Dhanashree Vilas Kolge of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT). Ghosalkar polled 16,484 votes, while Kolge received 5,729, resulting in a decisive victory margin of 10,755 votes.

According to official data, Congress candidate Tulip Miranda has secured a total of 5,197 votes and emerged as the clear winner in Ward number 90, defeating BJP's Jyoti Upadhyay, who secured a total of 5,190 votes.

In Dharavi, ward 186, UBT’s Archana Shinde has won. She won against Neela Sonawane from the BJP by 1,028 votes.

Former MLA Yamini Jadhav of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena won BMC ward 209 by defeating the Congress candidate.

BJP’s Ravi Raja loses ward 185. He was LoP in the previous BMC house, he has switched from Congress to BJP. He lost to Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate.

AIMIM's Mehjabeen Khan has won from Ward Number 134 in Mumbai.

The BJP-Led Mahayuti is touching the halfway mark of 114 seats.

In ward number 214 -  BJP’s Ajay Patil has been declared winner. 

In Ward number 194 of Mumbai -   Shiv Sena UBT's Nishikant Shinde has been declared a winner.

Ward 182 - Shiv Sena UBT's Milind Vaidya has been declared winner.

BJP's Rajashree Shirwadkar has won ward 172 after defeating UBT's Madhuri Prashant Bhise.

BJP's Navnath Ban has been declared the winner in ward number 135.

Shiv Sena (UBT) opened its account in Worli's Ward 194. Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Nishikant Shinde defeated Samaadhan Sarvankar, son of senior Shinde Sena leader Sada Sarvankar.

As per 11 am data, BJP leads in 49 seats, and the Shiv Sena leads in 26. This means that the Fadnavis-led BJP is currently batting at a strike rate of 36 per cent, having contested 135 wards. Shinde's Sena is batting at a strike rate of 29 per cent, having contested 90 wards.

Shiv Sena (UBT) is reported to be leading in 40 seats. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, is currently leading in 8 seats. The Congress has 7 leads from the initial count, while Ajit Pawar's NCP faction has 1 lead.

Shiv Sena has won three seats. Rekha Yadav won from Ward No 1, becoming the first North Indian woman candidate to register a victory in the civic body, while Varsha Tembwalkar emerged victorious from Ward No 51 and Shaila Lande from Ward No 163.

BJP's Tejaswini Ghosalkar won from Ward No 2 and Ajit Patil from Ward No 214.

Congress opened its account with Asha Kale winning from Ward No 183 in Dharavi.

Congress candidate Asha Deepak Kale has won from Ward 183. This is the first result declared for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

Supporting Raj Thackeray’s claims that SEC is using markers instead of indeible ink, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Friday took said, “Vote Chori is an anti-national act.”

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said, “Election commission gaslighting citizens is how trust has collapsed in our democracy. Vote Chori is an anti-national act.”

BJP is currently ahead with 2000 votes in the high-profile Malabar Hill area of south Mumbai after the opening of postal ballots and the first round of counting. 

As per early trends:

BJP-Shiv Sena Alliance is ahead with 61 seats, followed by Shiv Sena (UBT) at 37 and Congress at 10.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, a member of the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction, has leveled a serious allegation against the BJP. Amid the municipal election counting, Raut stated that the BJP had fixed the results yesterday evening.

Initial trends from the Mumbai municipal elections show the BJP leading in 25 seats. The Shiv Sena (UBT)-NCP alliance is leading in 19 seats. Congress is leading in three seats.

On Maharashtra civic body elections, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC says, "The exit polls are just a trailer, the results will be out in 2 hours. The public has decided the mandate for 29 Municipal Corporations on the basis of development and Eknath Shinde's work of progress."

"Udhhav Thackeray should change his script writer and find some other excuse... The verdict of loss and win is decided by the public. The message is that the opportunity belongs to those who work on ground and those who work from home are made to stay at home," she added.

The BJP–Shiv Sena alliance is leading in 12 wards as counting got underway across Mumbai. Votes will be counted for 227 wards in India's richest municipal corporation.

Ahead of the BMC results, Congress leader Sachin Sawant said, "The Mayor will be ours, Congress workers have worked hard for BMC polls." 

Vote counting began for the high-profile BMC elections in Mumbai at 10 am on Friday.

The election results for Maharashtra's 29 municipal corporations will be announced today. Counting of votes will begin at 10 am. Initial trends will begin emerging by noon. However, final results are expected by 4 pm.

Voring counting for BMC election in Mumbai will not happen across all 227 wards together, civic officials said on Thursday hinting at delayed results. Votes will be counted in only two wards at a time. This means counting will take place for just 46 wards at 10 am. As a result, early trends are expected to be delayed with the final results possibly coming in much later than usual.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in Mumbai saw a voter turnout of 52.94 per cent, as per the final figures. Voting percentage in Mumbai was 55.53 in the 2017 polls.

Preparations underway at the counting station at BMC School in Sion Koliwada for BMC elections. The counting of votes for the BMC elections will begin today at 10 am across 23 designated counting centres in Mumbai, Municipal Commissioner and District Election Officer Bhushan Gagrani said.

Thackeray cousins made sharp allegations on Thursday against the State Election Commission (SEC), claiming that the indelible ink used on voters' fingers could be easily erased. "This is not the erasing of ink, but the erasing of democracy," Uddhav Thackeray had said.

The most talked-about is the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai, the country's richest municipal corporation with a budget of over Rs 74,400 crore. Elections were held for a total of 227 seats in the BMC, where a majority requires 114 seats. Exit polls released a day earlier predicted a clear majority for the Mahayuti (BJP + Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena).

Exit polls show a significant advantage for the Mahayuti, while the Thackeray brothers (Uddhav and Raj) are projected to finish second despite their unity. These elections are being held for the first time since 2017, as the 2022 elections were postponed due to ward demarcation and other procedures. The number of wards in the BMC remains at 227 (a proposal to increase the number from 227 to 236 was not passed).

Voting took place on January 15, with Mumbai recording an average voter turnout of 41-50 per cent. Over 35 million voters were eligible. The Mahayuti performed well in other recent local body elections, which is expected to benefit them in the BMC as well.

-Mahayuti: BJP (contested 137 seats) + Shinde Shiv Sena (contested 90 seats).

-Maha Vikas Aghadi parties: Shiv Sena (UBT) (163 seats) + MNS (52 seats).

-Congress alliance: Congress (143 seats) + Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) (46 seats).

-Ajit Pawar NCP: Fought alone, fielded candidates on 94 seats.

The vote counting for Maharashtra's 29 municipal corporations including the high-stakes BMC in Mumbai will begin at 10 am on Friday. Results will be announced today in Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kalyan-Dombivali, and others.
