Mumbai Rains Today Live Update: Mumbai has been grappling with relentless rainfall after the monsoon arrived in Maharashtra ahead of schedule, bringing the city to a standstill. Continuous downpours led to widespread waterlogging and severe traffic disruptions across various parts of the city.
After an intense overnight spell, the rains subsided on Tuesday morning, offering much-needed relief to Mumbaikars. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh red alert for Mumbai, warning of heavy rainfall.
Eight weather stations—Borivali, Santacruz, Powai, Mulund, Chembur, Worli, Colaba and suburban Alibag—are now under red alert. Surrounding areas, including Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan, have been placed under an orange alert.
In response to the situation, an emergency control room has been activated at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters to coordinate relief and emergency operations. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the control room to assess the city's preparedness and monitor response measures.
NDRF teams have been deployed in the coastal regions of Maharashtra. Three teams have been permanently deployed in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the administration to be on high alert for rescue and relief work.
