Pune Water Cut: Water supply was disrupted in parts of Pune on Friday morning after a fault was reported in key supply lines connecting Warje water works and the Chandni Chowk water tank.

Officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation said the damaged pipelines led to reduced supply in Kothrud and Warje. Repair work was completed by afternoon and supply was gradually restored.

Residents expressed concern over the unannounced disruption, especially as the issue came a day after scheduled water cuts on Thursday.

The Times Of India report cited Kothrud resident as stating that the lack of prior notice caused inconvenience, as many households were already managing limited water supply.

Officials said steps would be taken to avoid such disruptions in the future.

In separate news, Pune is heading towards warmer nights as winter conditions begin to weaken, with minimum temperatures rising steadily over the past few days. Weather officials said the change signals a seasonal transition and is being driven by several weather systems active across the country.

Data from India Meteorological Department stations showed a sharp jump in night temperatures. Shivajinagar recorded a minimum of 18.2 degrees Celsius on January 30, well above the normal level, while Lohegaon saw an even higher reading of 19.6 degrees Celsius, the highest deviation reported in Maharashtra that day. Other parts of the city, including Chinchwad, Magarpatta and Koregaon Park, also experienced unusually warm nights, with temperatures crossing 20 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists said minimum temperatures across Maharashtra are expected to rise by two to three degrees Celsius over the next few days, bringing warmer nights to Pune as well.

The rise has been linked to the combined impact of western disturbances, jet stream activity and upper-air circulations affecting different regions of the country. IMD Pune said skies are likely to remain mostly clear over the next 48 hours, though light clouding and early morning fog may occur in some areas.
