Significance Of Sarva Pitru Amavasya
1. Universal Forgiveness: If you forgot or missed the specific Tithi (death anniversary date) of your ancestor during Pitru Paksha, performing rites on this date compensates for all 15 preceding days.
2. For Unknown Ancestors: It honours ancestors whose death dates are unknown, as well as those who passed away due to unnatural causes or accidents.
3. The Gateway To Festival Season: It marks the end of Pitru Paksha and the beginning of Shardiya Navratri (which begins the following day). According to legends, Goddess Durga descends to Earth on Mahalaya.
