India secured a memorable double podium finish in the men's javelin throw at the Asian Games 2026 on Monday, with Yashvir Singh winning silver and Rohit Yadav claiming bronze in the final at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
Yashvir produced a stunning personal best of 85.72m on his sixth and final attempt to move past compatriot Rohit and secure the silver medal. Rohit finished third with a best throw of 84.35m, giving India two medals in the event.
Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage won the gold medal with a massive 88.55m throw.
Yashvir and Rohit stepped up in his absence to maintain India's strong record in the men's javelin at the Asian Games.

Yashvir Produces Personal Best To Win Silver
Yashvir, 24, saved his best for his final attempt. The Haryana athlete had been behind Rohit heading into the final round, but his 85.72m effort on his sixth throw lifted him into second place. It was a new personal best and proved enough to secure the silver medal.
Yashvir had entered the competition after winning bronze at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and he added another major international medal to his season with his performance in Nagoya.
Rohit Yadav Takes Bronze
Rohit Yadav produced a best effort of 84.35m to finish third and complete India's double podium.
The 25-year-old from Uttar Pradesh had entered the Asian Games with a personal and season best of 87.68m. He could not improve on his earlier mark in the final but still secured the bronze medal.
Rohit had missed out on a podium finish at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, but he bounced back with an Asian Games medal.
The Indian's final attempt was recorded as a foul, but his earlier 84.35m effort had already secured him the bronze medal.
Rumesh Pathirage Wins Gold
Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage emerged as the standout performer in the final, taking gold with a throw of 88.55m.
Pathirage, who has enjoyed a breakthrough season, entered the competition as one of the leading contenders and delivered when it mattered. His winning throw was well clear of the Indian duo.

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, the reigning Olympic champion, finished fourth with a season-best 80.29m.
India Maintain Javelin Podium Run
The double podium extends India's strong run in the men's javelin throw at the Asian Games.
At the 2023 Hangzhou Games, Neeraj Chopra won gold while Kishore Jena took silver, completing an Indian one-two. Chopra was again expected to be India's leading medal contender in 2026 but withdrew from the squad following his injury.
