India’s hunt for medals at the Asian Games 2026 will pick up pace on Sunday, September 20, with several Indian athletes and teams set to compete across different events.

The Asian Games officially begin with the opening ceremony on Saturday, although Indian athletes have already been competing since Thursday. Teqball has provided some of the early excitement for the Indian contingent, with Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza and Mohamed Anas Imran Beg in medal contention.

The Indian pair will compete in the mixed doubles bronze-medal match against Vietnam’s Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen and Gia Nghi Trinh. The Vietnamese pair had defeated the Indians in the quarterfinals.

Quimcy will also have another opportunity to win a medal in the women’s singles event. She will face Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto in the bronze-medal match.

India’s women’s cricket team will also be in action on Sunday. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will take on Bangladesh in the semifinal as it looks to retain the gold medal it won at the 2023 Asian Games.

Shooting will be another major medal event for India. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod will compete in the women’s 10m air rifle events.

The Indian hockey teams will also begin their campaigns. The men’s team will face Indonesia in Pool A, while the women’s team will take on Uzbekistan in Pool B.
