Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr have created history in world football by breaking an 87-year-old world record.
The Saudi Pro League giants became the first team to score in 94 consecutive league matches, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Argentine club River Plate.
The record was confirmed during Al Nassr’s 1-1 draw against Al Khaleej on Saturday. While Ronaldo failed to get on the scoresheet, substitute Abdullah Al-Hamdan produced the crucial moment for the Saudi side, scoring the equaliser and keeping their incredible scoring run alive.
Al Nassr Break River Plate’s Long-Standing Record
Al Nassr's latest goal took their league scoring streak to 94 matches, moving them beyond River Plate's record of 93 consecutive league games.
The Argentine giants had maintained that run between September 1936 and June 1939, meaning their record had remained untouched for almost nine decades.
How Did Al Nassr Reach 94 Consecutive Games?
The historic streak began on December 8, 2023, when Al Nassr defeated Al Riyadh 4-1.
Interestingly, their previous league game without scoring came shortly before that, when they suffered a 3-0 defeat against rivals Al Hilal.
Since then, Al Nassr have managed to find the back of the net in every single Saudi Pro League fixture.
The latest breakthough came against Al Khaleej. After falling behind, Al Nassr needed an equalzier and Al-Hamdan stepped up from the bench to score the goal that ultimately secured their place in the history books.
