Sarvam AI has announced its entry into AI hardware, revealing plans to launch AI-powered smartglasses called Sarvam Kaze. The announcement was made during the India AI Impact Summit, just days after the startup grabbed attention for outperforming ChatGPT and Google Gemini in select benchmarks.

In an X post, Sarvam AI CEO Pratyush Kumar dropped a one-minute teaser featuring the forthcoming smart glasses. The video shows a sleek frame that looks like Meta Ray-Ban with visible cameras embedded into it.

Kumar also mentioned that the device is called Sarvam Kaze and called it the company’s first step into getting its AI models onto consumer devices themselves.

PM Modi Tried Sarvam Kaze

Kumar also shared images of Narendra Modi wearing the Sarvam Kaze smartglasses, likely during his visit to the summit venue.

“The first person to try them? The Prime Minister", Kumar wrote on X.

He further emphasised that Sarvam Kaze has been designed and built entirely in India, positioning it as India’s first domestically developed AI hardware product.

What Can Sarvam Kaze Do?

According to the company, Sarvam Kaze is designed to take AI beyond screens and integrate it seamlessly into daily life.

As Kumar explained:

“Sarvam Kaze moves intelligence from the screen to the real world. You wear it. It listens, understands, responds, and captures what you see. And you can build custom experiences for it with the Sarvam platform.”

The smartglasses will be powered by in-house AI models of Sarvam, which will enable developers and businesses to build custom applications with the company’s own platform.

Launch Timeline and Strategic Significance

Sarvam AI has confirmed that Sarvam Kaze will launch in May 2026.

The move is also coming at a time when smartglasses are proving to be a major consumer tech category. According to reports, Meta shipped more than 7 million of these Ray-Ban smartglasses in 2025 alone, and Apple is also said to be working on its own version.

By being in the segment early with a Made-in-India AI wearable, Sarvam AI is establishing itself not just as a model-building enterprise but also as the only fully stacked AI company across both software and hardware ecosystems, a tag that its Indian compatriots are too far behind to catch up on.
