Until now, Airtel's network was available at Baltal. The company has now extended coverage to Chandanwari, Pissu Top and Betaab Valley, bringing the Pahalgam route under its network as well. With the latest rollout, Airtel says pilgrims travelling to the Amarnath Cave Temple will have uninterrupted voice and data connectivity across both routes.
The expansion has been carried out in coordination with the local administration and other government authorities managing the yatra. Besides making it easier for pilgrims to stay connected with their families, the upgraded network is also expected to support emergency communication and improve digital access during one of the country's biggest annual pilgrimages.
Commenting on the expansion, Vikram RS, Chief Operating Officer, Bharti Airtel, Jammu & Kashmir, said: “At Airtel, we remain committed to connecting people, communities, and essential services, even in some of the most challenging terrains,”. He added further, “The expansion of our network across both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes for the Amarnath Yatra reflects our continued investment in Jammu & Kashmir and our commitment to ensuring that pilgrims, security personnel, and authorities remain reliably connected throughout this important annual pilgrimage.”
