Apple has rolled out iOS 18.5 Developer Beta 1 to developers and beta testers, just two days after the public release of iOS 18.4. While this update isn’t a major overhaul, it brings a few notable refinements, including updates to the Mail app, AppleCare settings, and system stability improvements. It also fixes bugs affecting the Apple Vision Pro app, StoreKit, and Writing Tools on the iPhone.
What’s New in iOS 18.5 Developer Beta 1?
According to MacRumors, the update introduces a new toggle for Contact Photos in the Mail app. Users can now turn this on or off by tapping the three-dot menu in the top-right corner. Additionally, iOS 18.5 allows users to disable the Group by Sender setting directly from the Mail app’s interface.
Apple has also updated its AppleCare information section. A new banner now appears in Settings > General > AppleCare and Warranty, where users can find more details about their coverage and even manage their AppleCare plan by selecting a device from their Apple Account.

Bug Fixes & System Improvements
One of the key fixes in this update addresses an issue with the Apple Vision Pro app, which was first introduced in iOS 18.4. Some users reported that the app launched with a black screen, making it unusable. The new update resolves this problem, ensuring a smoother experience for Vision Pro users.
Another fix involves StoreKit—specifically, a bug that caused the isEligibleForIntroOffer(for:) function to return false if the user was not signed in. Apple has also patched a function issue related to Apple’s Writing Tools.
When Will iOS 18.5 Be Released to the Public?
Apple hasn’t officially announced a public rollout date for iOS 18.5, but based on past releases, it’s expected to arrive sometime next month.
