Grand Theft Auto VI is officially set to launch next year, and anticipation around Rockstar’s return to Vice City is only growing. While the wait continues, there is now a surprisingly easy way to revisit the original Vice City and see where it all began.
Just like Grand Theft Auto V reimagined the San Andreas map, GTA VI is expected to modernise Vice City with a fresh take on familiar locations. That makes going back to the original game more interesting than ever, especially to spot landmarks and areas that could return in Rockstar’s next release.

Despite being one of Rockstar’s earlier 3D titles, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has aged remarkably well. Many fans still argue that the original release looks far better than the Definitive Edition that arrived years later. Its atmosphere, soundtrack, and art direction remain unmatched.
GTA Vice City Now Runs In Your Browser
If you have never played Vice City or are thinking about a replay, you can now experience it directly in your browser. The project comes from The Dos Zone team, whose work has been shared widely across Grand Theft Auto communities.
There is no need to download the game, and this is not a stripped-down version. All core features are present, startup times are fast, and it supports multiple screen resolutions. You can also play using a controller if one is connected to your PC or laptop.
The One Limitation You Should Know About
There is one important catch. You cannot progress through the full story without owning the original game files. As explained by the developers, “The game is given as a limited demo. You can travel and enjoy the gameplay as much as you want, but upon going to the 1st story checkpoint (Hotel Ocean View), you're required to upload an original game file to continue.”
For many players, that limitation is not a dealbreaker. Free-roaming Vice City, causing chaos, and revisiting iconic locations still offer plenty to enjoy. It almost feels like a preview tour before GTA VI reshapes the city again.
Want the Full Experience Instead?
If you prefer to play the complete game, the Definitive Edition is available on consoles and PC. However, a better option is an enhanced overhaul mod that dramatically improves visuals, performance, and loading times while preserving the original feel.
