The iQOO 15 series might soon have a new, cheaper sibling. Just a few months ago in November, iQOO introduced the iQOO 15 as the successor to the iQOO 13, but it seems that the new model will soon be joined by another called the iQOO 15R. The phone has been spotted on a certification database – always a good sign – so its arrival can’t be too far away. As brands like to place “R” or “Lite” models under their flagships, so too is expected of the iQOO 15R compared with the regular version. The earliest rumours have suggested that it may be none other than the rebranded edition of the iQOO Z11 Turbo but with more powerful specs at a lower price point.

iQOO 15R Appears on Bluetooth SIG

A new iQOO smartphone with model number I2508 has made its way to Bluetooth SIG, suggesting that the phone will soon go official. The listing specifically refers to the device as an iQOO 15R and is also the first time we have even heard of this name in public. Bluetooth SIG listings typically appear near the launch, which means we have the phone in its last steps of preparations.

Naturally, the certification doesn't reveal any specs or design details. However, the same model number was previously seen on the IMEI database as iQOO Neo 11, which suggests that iQOO may change its branding approach for different countries.

iQOO 15R Could Be a Rebranded iQOO Z11 Turbo

The iQOO 15R is said to be a rebranding of the upcoming iQOO Z11 Turbo that will break cover in China in the coming weeks. The phone at hand is rumoured to employ the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which is found on the OnePlus Ace in China and the global version of the OnePlus 15R.

Dubbed internally as “The Battle Spirit”, the phone is expected to come with a 6.59-inch display as well as a 200-megapixel ultra-clear main rear camera. It will also have a metallic frame, glass back panel and rounded corners with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor as well as IP68 + IP69 rated dust and waterproofing.

What This Means for iQOO’s Lineup

If that proves to be true, the iQOO 15R may turn out to be a performance-orientated phone with near-flagship specs that you can afford. With the rebrand of the iQOO Z11 Turbo for international markets, iQOO could be looking to capture more ground in the premium mid-range space. Pricing and launch information are still unknown, but the certification sighting is further evidence that we might not have to wait much longer for official details.
