Motorola seems to have quietly started expanding its Android 17 beta programme, with several Motorola Edge 60 Pro users in India reporting that they have received the update. While the company is yet to make an official announcement, posts on Reddit, X and Motorola's community forums have revealed some of the new features that come with the latest beta.
One of the biggest changes appears to be a redesigned Live Updates feature. Instead of appearing as a standard notification, it now sits around the phone's centred punch hole camera, giving it a look that's quite similar to Apple's Dynamic Island. Alongside that, Motorola has also added its new AI assistant, Qira, along with a refreshed interface and a handful of quality-of-life improvements.

Android 17 Beta Gives the Edge 60 Pro a Fresh Look
A Reddit user who claims to have installed the update says Motorola has refreshed several parts of the software. The Quick Settings panel now supports resizable tiles, making it easier to arrange shortcuts. The Wi-Fi, mobile network and battery icons have also been redesigned, while the volume slider and Settings app have received a visual makeover.
The update is also said to bring better haptic feedback, more personalisation options and Smart Connect cloud integration for smoother connectivity across compatible devices. Motorola has reportedly tweaked the notification system as well. That said, the user mentioned that the phone seems to run a little warmer after installing the beta.
More Changes Revealed by Early Users
Another user on X, Fanboy_Moto, shared screenshots of the update, revealing that the beta package is around 5GB in size and carries the build number A171VVH.16.
According to the post, Android 17 adds tinted app icons for the home screen, refreshed status bar icons and a new Classic Control Centre. A single swipe down opens a compact control panel, while swiping down again expands it into the full Quick Settings menu.
The Live Updates feature has also been refined further and now uses the camera cutout to display ongoing activities, much like Apple's Dynamic Island. Other reported additions include Landscape Stereo mode, Android's Battery Health menu and several Android 16 QPR2 features, including Enhanced HDR Brightness.

Motorola has also changed a couple of familiar gestures. Taking a screenshot now requires a three-finger swipe down instead of a long press with three fingers. Likewise, users can enter Split Screen mode by swiping up with three fingers.
Motorola has not confirmed when the stable Android 17 update will be released. However, with more Edge 60 Pro users now getting access to the beta, it looks like the company is moving ahead with testing before a wider rollout begins.
