ChatGPT Sora Video Generator Integration: Reports pointing towards a potential merger of OpenAI's Sora AI and ChatGPT started spiraling over the internet earlier this month, and now a new report points to the evidence that this might be true, as this possible integration has started showing up in chatbots' code. This might be a sigh of relief for some users who have been looking forward to such an integration, but it raises the question of how OpenAI decides to protect the individual identity of Sora as an individual app.

ChatGPT And Sora To Merge

The AI maker has already started on a merger of the two platforms, according to a report by Android Authority. The publication builds upon the evidence it found in ChatGPT's Android app version 1.2026.076, in which they mention that the link to the Sora app is not exclusively mentioned, but it has spotted text strings in the build that point towards Sora integration.

What Do The Text Strings Say?

The snippets shared by the publication can be seen mentioning things like “Video in ChatGPT is here,” followed by “Transform text and image into video with dialogue, soundtrack, and style.” There are other things as well, like "Try it with a photo," "Create Video," and "Explore, Create, and Share Videos."

Although it must be noted that this does not duly confirm ChatGPT's integration with the Sora app, a merger can still be on the anvil. What's interesting to note here is that these snippets seem to be a part of the interface that will be visible to the user, and such elements only appear when a feature is close to its release, conventionally speaking.

The reason behind not explicitly naming Sora could be the fact that the firm wants to protect the app's standalone identity. Previously, The Information had claimed that the AI maker, despite a possible integration of the platforms, will keep both the Sora app and the website operational.

Interestingly enough, right now, Sora hasn’t gone fully global and is still limited to a handful of regions. Even the Android version of the video app is only available in select markets so far. That makes things a bit unclear, as there’s no confirmation yet on whether the chatbot’s AI video feature will follow the same rollout pattern or be available everywhere from day one.
