OPPO appears to be changing direction with the Reno 16 series. Instead of simply pushing bigger screens and higher numbers, the upcoming lineup could focus more on portability, camera performance, and battery life.
Fresh leaks as reported by 91Mobiles have now revealed the expected specifications and renders of the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and a new Reno 16 FS variant ahead of their anticipated global debut.

Reno 16 Pro Could Target Compact Phone Fans
The Reno 16 Pro may end up becoming one of the few premium Android phones to offer flagship-style cameras in a compact body. Unlike the Chinese version that comes with a much larger display, the global Reno 16 Pro is tipped to feature a smaller 6.32-inch LTPS AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
The device is also said to weigh just 188g, which could make it noticeably easier to use compared to many large-screen flagship phones currently in the market. Gorilla Glass 7i protection is also expected.
Internally, the phone may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 processor paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. But cameras are clearly where OPPO seems to be putting most of its focus. The Reno 16 Pro is tipped to feature a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical zoom, and another 50MP ultra-wide camera.
A 50MP front camera is also expected, suggesting OPPO could continue pushing selfie and portrait photography as a major selling point for the Reno lineup.
Battery life may also see a big jump this year. The Reno 16 Pro is rumoured to feature a large 6,700mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC charging. Stereo speakers, NFC, an aluminium frame, and IP69-rated protection are also expected to be part of the package.
Standard Reno 16 May Focus On Balance Rather Than Raw Power
The regular Reno 16 seems positioned as the more balanced option in the series. It is expected to retain a similar design and camera layout as the Pro variant but with slightly toned-down hardware to keep pricing more accessible.
The phone could feature the same 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, although the refresh rate may drop to 120Hz. Powering the device is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset.
Camera hardware still looks quite premium on paper. The Reno 16 may feature a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide sensor. OPPO is also tipped to include a 50MP selfie shooter here.
The phone may pack a 6,000mAh battery with 80W charging support. Features such as stereo speakers, NFC, aluminium frame construction, and IP69 certification are also expected to carry over from the Pro model.
Reno 16 FS Could Bring Telephoto Cameras To Lower Price Segment
The most interesting addition in the lineup could be the Reno 16 FS. Expected to sit below the Reno 16, the device may still bring features usually missing in phones targeting the affordable premium segment.
The Reno 16 FS is tipped to feature a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone could run on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
Even more surprising is the expected camera setup. The phone may include a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. A 50MP front camera is also tipped.
The Reno 16 FS could pack a 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging. While the frame may switch from aluminium to plastic, OPPO is still expected to offer features like stereo speakers, NFC, and IP69-rated water and dust resistance.
OPPO May Also Improve Long-Term Software Support
All three Reno 16 series phones are expected to launch with Android 16-based ColorOS 16.1 out of the box. OPPO is also reportedly planning to offer five Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, which would be a notable improvement for the Reno series.
The lineup also appears to focus heavily on bigger batteries this year, something that has become increasingly important for users who spend long hours gaming, streaming, or using cameras extensively.
India Launch Expected In July
The Reno 16 Pro could attract buyers looking for a compact flagship-like experience with powerful camera hardware, while the standard Reno 16 may target users wanting premium features without stepping into flagship pricing territory. Meanwhile, the Reno 16 FS could emerge as the value-focused option with its combination of telephoto cameras and large battery.
OPPO is expected to launch the Reno 16 series in India sometime in July, although official confirmation is still awaited.
