The Poco M8 5G India launch is right around the corner, and just ahead of its arrival, Poco has confirmed some features of its new handset. The phone will add some improvements in the form of a better display, performance, and long-term software support, which makes it an impressive mid-range 5G phone. Specifications have been leaked on Poco’s official Flipkart microsite, and it at least offers a better idea of what the buyers can look forward to.
Curved AMOLED Display With High Brightness
Poco M8 5G will come with a 6.77-inch full-HD+ 3D curved display with a resolution of 2,392x1,080 pixels. The panel is capable of refreshing at 120 Hz and has up to 3,200 nits of peak brightness for outdoor use. Poco asserts 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage for more vivid colours, as well as support for Wet Touch 2.0 technology that should enable better touch response even when the screen is wet and you're using your fingers.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Performance
The Poco M8 5G will be fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 platform. The company also claims that the phone scores over 825,000 on AnTuTu, which is around 83 cent higher than the Poco M7 5G. Meanwhile, the processor will be accompanied by up to 16GB of RAM support with an additional virtual RAM capacity of up to 8GB for seamless multitasking and powerful performance.
Long-Term Software Support With HyperOS
The Poco M8 5G will come pre-installed with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. Poco has announced four years of Android version updates and six years of security patches, which is quite impressive for this category. The device will also get the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 update soon.

Design, Durability and Camera Details
Previous teasers already confirmed that the Poco M8 5G will be slim and lightweight, measuring 7.35mm thick and tipping the scales at just around 178g, respectively, while touting IP66-rated dust and water protection, as well as SGS MIL-STD-810 certification for ruggedness. For photography, the handset is expected to come with a 50-megapixel AI-backed primary camera. The back has a centrally placed squircle-shaped camera module containing two sensors and an LED flash.
India Launch Date and Availability
Poco M8 5G will make its official debut in India on January 8 at 12:00pm IST. The smartphone will be sold via Flipkart, and you can expect more information on the price point and versions as we inch closer to the date.
