Redmi's latest Note series phone may not have to wait long before making its way to India. The Redmi Note 17, which debuted in China just last week, is now tipped to arrive in the country in early August. While Xiaomi has remained tight-lipped so far, a fresh leak has given us a fair idea of when the phone could launch and what might be different about the Indian version.
According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Redmi Note 17 could be unveiled in India on August 6, with sales expected to begin from August 11. Nothing has been confirmed by Xiaomi yet, but this isn't the first time we've heard about an early August launch, making the latest claim seem quite believable.

Interestingly, the Indian variant may come with a surprise. If the leak is accurate, it could pack a massive 8,000mAh battery, which is actually larger than the 7,700mAh battery found in the Chinese model. That's not something we see very often, as brands usually keep the hardware identical across markets. If Xiaomi goes ahead with this change, battery life could become one of the Redmi Note 17's biggest selling points in India.
The display is also expected to be an OLED panel, although the leak stops short of revealing details such as the screen size or refresh rate.
Camera upgrades are also said to be on the cards. The Redmi Note 17 is tipped to feature a 50 megapixel Light Fusion 400 main camera, with better low light performance than the previous generation. For selfies and video calls, the phone could include an 8 megapixel front camera.
To put things into perspective, the Redmi Note 17 launched in China with a 6.67 inch AMOLED display offering 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3,200 nits of peak brightness. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset and comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
On the camera side, the Chinese model includes a 50 megapixel Sony LYT 600 sensor with optical image stabilisation, paired with a 2 megapixel depth sensor. It runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and supports 45W wired fast charging.

As always, it's worth remembering that Xiaomi has not officially announced the Redmi Note 17 for India yet. Until that happens, these details should be treated as leaks. With the rumoured launch now just a couple of weeks away, it shouldn't be long before we know exactly what Xiaomi has planned for the Indian market.
