Samsung Certified Re-Newed Programme: Samsung has taken a step that will bring relief to many Indian customers who are looking forward to buying a premium Galaxy device without burning a hole in their pockets. The South Korean tech giant has introduced its 'Certified Re-Newed' programme in India, which will expand the scope of access of premium Galaxy devices, and the best thing about this is that it is completely company-backed and assures 100% quality and uncompromised performance, which the consumers can go for at a reasonable price as the company claims.
What Is Samsung Proposing?
Samsung’s new Certified Re-Newed programme is aimed at giving consumers access to refurbished Galaxy smartphones at lower prices. The lineup will include devices from both flagship and mid-ranges, and the company has also claimed that users will still get the same level of reliability, security, and overall experience associated with Galaxy phones.
Through this initiative, Samsung is also looking to encourage longer product lifecycles and strengthen trust in the refurbished smartphone market, while making premium technology more accessible to a wider set of buyers.

Apple Does The Same But Not In India
Apple also has a programme that gives out refurbished devices that are 100% authentic, but sadly, it's not available in India yet and is only in select global markets like North America: the United States and Canada. Europe: United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, and Norway. Asia-Pacific: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China (mainland), Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea. In India consumers can get their hands on a refurbished item, but it's not 100% company-backed and authentic and relies on third-party dealers, so questions on authenticity and guarantee remain. Samsung's move could definitely leverage its position in the market.
How Does Samsung Ensure Quality?
Samsung says the refurbished phones sold under its Certified Re-Newed programme will not simply be cleaned up and resold. According to the company, each device goes through multiple quality checks, testing procedures, and software verification before being put back on sale. Samsung is also using original parts during the refurbishment process, and the phones will be shipped in fresh packaging instead of reused boxes.

The company says all phones are completely reset before resale so previous user data are removed. Buyers will also get the latest software version available for the device, alongside a one-year manufacturer warranty similar to what Samsung offers with new Galaxy smartphones.
The certified renewed smartphones have gone on sale in India from May 6 through Samsung’s official website and the Samsung Shop app.
