US Presidential Election 2024: Despite repeated advice from hi advisors to avoid making direct personal attacks against his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, former US President Donald Trump appears unwilling to stop. Trump campaigned in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, in what was intended to be an economic policy-focused rally, but it turned into a series of ongoing personal attacks against Harris.
The former president spoke for nearly two hours, briefly addressing Vice President Harris' economic policy rollout before deviating from his prepared remarks to describe himself as "better looking".
While criticising the vice president's Time Magazine cover, Trump asserted that he was "better looking" than her. This followed his previous comments calling her "beautiful" during a discussion with Elon Musk last week.
"Don't ever call a woman beautiful, because that'll be the end of your political career, please." Trump began, later going on to say, "But I say that I am much better looking. I'm a better-looking person than Kamala."
In the past three weeks, Trump has levelled a range of personal insults at Harris, labelling her as "crazy," a "lunatic," and casting doubt on her ethnicity. He defended these attacks by claiming he feels "entitled" to them because she has angered him and called him "weird."
Trump Slams Harris' Economic Plan as 'Communist' and 'Maduro Plan’
Trump, however, claimed he could lower prices but offered no further details beyond a general focus on increasing US oil production.
Trump also criticised Harris' recent economic plan, branding it as a measure that "will bring communism to the US" and referring to it as the "Maduro plan," named after Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
"Yesterday, Kamala laid out her so-called economic plan. She says she's going to lower the cost of food and housing starting on day one. But day one for Kamala was three and a half years ago," Trump said.
