A man from the US has filed a lawsuit against Frontier Airlines seeking USD 150,000 in damages after suffering third-degree burns and "disfiguring scars" on his penis, testicles, and thighs when hot tea was spilled on him, according to a report by The Independent.
Sean Miller, identified as the victim, was flying back from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when the hot tea resulted in his injuries. He was promptly taken to the hospital upon arrival and subsequently transferred to a burn center for advanced treatment due to the extent of his injuries.
According to the lawsuit in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Miller had asked for hot tea during cabin service, but the "scalding" liquid, filled to the top, was handed to him in a "negligent manner." The tea was at an "unreasonably high temperature" and lacked a "lid," the suit states.
Adam S Barrist, the attorney representing Miller, stated that his client has endured discoloration on his penis and scrotum, along with "severe loss of sensation in his penis," "post-traumatic stress disorder," "diminished self-esteem," and at least one herniated disc, reported The Independent.

"Due to the tightly-situated plane seat configuration, Miller was unable to get up from his seat after the spill and, instead, was trapped in agonizing pain while his body was being burnt," Barrist told The Independent.

Notably, this is not the first or the only incident where a traveller sued an airlines in the US. Earlier this week, in a similar incident, a US citizen, 35-year-old Esraa Hezain filed a lawsuit against EgyptAir seeking $5 million in damages after she sustained "second-degree burns" from hot liquid being spilled on her.
According to the Brooklyn federal court filings, the incident took place in February of this year when a "lidless" cup of tea, placed on a "defective" seat tray, overturned and spilled onto her.
