The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has approved several major proposals aimed at boosting infrastructure and urban development in the city. In its board meeting held on Wednesday, 62 proposals were discussed, many of which are considered pivotal for Lucknow’s future growth.

Among the most significant developments is the approval to acquire the unused land of Sainik School on Kanpur Road for the construction of a proposed Aerocity. Situated close to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, the location has been deemed ideal for developing a high-profile urban centre.

The Aerocity project will include a seven-star hotel, a convention centre, restaurants, and other premium facilities. A dedicated committee was earlier constituted by the LDA to assess the feasibility of the project, and land acquisition will now proceed based on the committee’s report. Notably, a portion of the Sainik School land is already occupied by the Haj House.

In another key move, the LDA has also cleared the proposal to expand the Naimish Nagar Residential Scheme, planned across approximately 2,504 acres on Sitapur–Raitha Road in BKT. The development will now include four additional villages — Paschim Gaon, Dhobaila, Umrabhari, and Duggaur, bringing the total to 18 villages. Villages already identified include Bhauli, Lakshmipur, Purab Gaon, Purva, Sairpur, Farrukhabad, Kodri Bhauli, Kamalabad, Kamalapur, Palhari, Gopramou, Barumou, Dhatingra, and Saidapur.

Once developed, Naimish Nagar is expected to provide residential facilities for over two lakh people, along with integrated spaces for industry, healthcare, education, and logistics. The LDA board has approved land acquisition in all relevant villages to scale up the project.

In terms of administrative decisions, the LDA has terminated its contract with M/s Unitech Limited for the Ratankhand project on Raebareli Road, citing allottee grievances. The authority also clarified that its decision to cancel its agreement with The Himalayan Cooperative Society will not impact those who have already completed property registrations. Decisions regarding other stakeholders will be taken soon.

In a long-pending matter, the issue concerning Nehru Enclave has also been resolved after years. With approximately 58 acres of land handed over by the army, LDA plans to resume development work at full pace. This is expected to significantly boost infrastructure in Nehru Enclave and adjoining rural areas.
