Efforts are being stepped up to commence flight services from Hindon Airport to Lucknow and Prayagraj, with regular follow-ups being made at the central level to expedite the process.

Member of Parliament Atul Garg said that on November 2, acting on the instructions of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, he met the minister’s secretary, IAS officer Amit Kishore, and formally raised the issue. He added that a key meeting on the matter is scheduled to be held later this month.

During the discussions, the Defence Minister’s secretary convened a joint meeting of officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Indian Air Force’s Hindon base to review infrastructure requirements for expanding flight operations. In the meeting, the AAI sought permission for the construction of a new aircraft apron to increase airport capacity and ensure adequate parking facilities.

Approval was granted for the construction of an apron capable of parking six aircraft. The AAI will execute the project, while the Indian Air Force will provide technical support. Officials also assured that the proposal for providing one additional parking bay would be examined.

MP Garg further stated that the civil terminal expansion programme will be fast-tracked to support future passenger growth. Another review meeting on the expansion plan is proposed to be held in January.
