Students applying under the government scholarship scheme have been instructed to upload an income certificate issued in the name of their parents or legal guardian along with their application in Gorakhpur. In the case of married female students, an income certificate issued in the name of the husband will be mandatory. Applications may be rejected if any discrepancy is found in the submitted documents.

This information was shared by District Social Welfare Officer Vashishth Narayan Singh, who said that scholarship benefits are provided on the basis of a family’s annual income, as per government guidelines. Therefore, income certificates issued in the name of students themselves will not be considered valid.

To facilitate students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and equivalent courses, the scholarship portal has been enabled with a correction option. Students who have previously uploaded incorrect income certificates can rectify the error within the stipulated time period.

The District Social Welfare Officer further stated that students will be required to submit a copy of the revised income certificate to their respective educational institutions. At the institutional level, the newly uploaded certificate will be matched with the earlier submission and verified before applications are forwarded department-wise.

A final verification of all applications received from educational institutions will be carried out at the district level. Any application found to contain errors during scrutiny is liable to be rejected. Students have therefore been advised to ensure that only correct and valid income certificates are uploaded while applying.
