The Meerut police have issued a security action plan for the New Year. Those found driving under the influence of alcohol or performing stunts will be sent to the lock-up. 

The police will conduct checks using breathalysers, taking action upon confirmation of alcohol consumption. SSP Dr Vipin Tada has issued this order, fixing police duties from Wednesday to Thursday. Female police officers and a team from the LIU (Local Intelligence Unit) have also been deployed in public places, gathering information covertly.

Events organised in malls, restaurants, and hotels will also be under police surveillance. Hotels that do not meet the required standards will not be allowed to hold events. Restaurants bringing in external music systems and individuals performing bike stunts will be under special observation. 

Special attention will also be paid to the type of alcohol being served at New Year's parties. Hotel or restaurant owners must ensure the arrangement of private security guards, fire safety equipment, and CCTV cameras at the event venue. Music systems or loudspeakers will not be permitted to be played anywhere after 10 PM. In case of a complaint, action will be taken against the event organiser. 

Security arrangements for the New Year will be as follows

* The city has been divided into 14 sectors and nine zones. 

* 3 companies of the PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) and the RAF (Rapid Action Force) have been deployed. 

* 52 Sub-Inspectors and 500 Head Constables will be on duty. 

* 1,000 Constables have also been deployed. 

* 320 female constables will be on duty. 

* 14 Station House Officers and nine COs (Circle Officers) will also be monitoring the situation.

In the city, barricades will be set up at 25 points, including Begumpul, Abulane, Tejgarhi, L Block T-junction, and Budhana Gate, with checks starting from 10 PM. Additionally, extra police personnel will be deployed on the highway and in the Ganganagar, Sadar, Lalkurti, Civil Lines, Medical, and Nauchandi areas. 

SSP Dr Vipin Tada said, "Celebrate the New Year. The police force is deployed for everyone's safety. Anyone disrupting law and order or driving under the influence of alcohol will have to spend the night in the lock-up. In case of any trouble, call UP-112 to register a complaint. The police will arrive at the scene immediately. All PRVs (Police Response Vehicles) have also been put on alert.
