The Uttar Pradesh government is doubling its efforts to install solar rooftop plants under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. Over one lakh plants have already been installed across the state, with a current rate of approximately 11,000 installations per month and 500 daily.

The government aims to significantly increase this rate to 22,000 installations per month, targeting a total of 2.65 lakh plants in the fiscal year 2025-26. Each district will see an average of 300 new solar power plants installed under the scheme. The ultimate goal is to reach eight lakh solar rooftop plant installations in Uttar Pradesh by March 2027.

Specific targets have been set at district, discom, municipal corporation, and municipality levels. Real-time monitoring of the project's progress is facilitated through the Chief Minister's dashboard.

UPNEDA is actively working to expand the reach of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. They are connecting with applicants from the 10.73 lakh applications received on the portal by March 2025 and enlisting vendors.

Over 2500 vendors have been empaneled for the project's implementation by April 2025, and approximately 1800 have received training. These vendors are also being provided with financial support through loans and credit guarantee schemes.

Training is conducted in phases with the support of the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India, and UPNEDA. Launched in February 2024, this initiative is a key part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's focus on promoting green energy throughout the state.
