The BJP has announced a series of events to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which will be celebrated from October 31 to November 25. The celebrations will kick off with a Unity March across Uttar Pradesh on October 31, aimed at promoting the message of ‘Sardar@150’.

As part of the initiative, schools and colleges will host competitions between November 1 and 7 to connect the younger generation with Sardar Patel’s vision and contribution to nation-building. The competitions include essays, speeches, rangoli, and drawing contests, designed to instil a sense of patriotism, unity, and responsibility among students.

The essay competition will be open to students from class nine onwards and will be organised in intermediate colleges, degree colleges, and professional institutions, including engineering colleges. The speech competition will be for students from class 11 and above and will also be conducted in intermediate, degree, and professional colleges. Female students from classes six and above will participate in the rangoli competition, while students from classes one to eight will compete in the drawing contest held at primary and junior high schools.

Sanjay Rai, State Convener and State General Secretary of the BJP, said that these activities aim to familiarise students with the concept of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Superior India) and creatively highlight the role of the Iron Man in nation-building.
