A shocking incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun on Friday, December 26, where a forest department officer was injured after a wild boar attacked him during a rescue operation. 

The incident took place in Sirsauli village in Badaun district, where forest department personnel had gone to rescue a wild boar that was pillaging the crops of the locals. During the rescue operation, as officials tried to trap the animal with a net, it suddenly lunged at the forest officer, who had been identified as Subham Pratap Singh, knocking him to the ground and holding him down.

Fellow officers who had gone for the rescue effort attempted to scare the boar off by beating it with sticks and managed to pull Singh to safety for about two minutes. 

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the boar dragging Singh as his colleagues repeatedly strike the animal in a desperate effort to free their senior official. Singh suffered several injuries during the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

Two Sisters End Life From Depression Over Pet’s Death

In a separate development, two sisters who were battling depression and distressed over their pet dog's illness have allegedly died by suicide after consuming phenyl at their home here, police said on Friday. The incident occurred in the Doda Kheda-Jalalpur area in the state capital, Lucknow. The deceased have been identified as Radha Singh (26) and her younger sister Jiya Singh (22), they said.

Police said they received information from a private hospital at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday that the two women had been brought in after allegedly consuming phenyl. Radha Singh died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Jiya Singh was later shifted to King George’s Medical University in central Lucknow, where she too passed away.

According to the police official, quoted by news agency PTI, both sisters were dealing with depression for quite some time, which was confirmed by the statements from the family members as well. One of them was suffering from tuberculosis, which had worsened her mental health, while the other had been experiencing depression since 2014.
